The proud of heart see only themselves , their needs,desires, dreams etc with an unwillingness to entertain the views , needs etc of others.
The see only themselves so they have no place for G-d and more than that in essence they are saying :
noone can see further than I can
noone can understand better than I can
noone can anything better than I can
When you make no place for anyone but you there is no greater abomination as you deny yourself and the world of all you could be,become and contribute which with G-d has no limit
