When one relies on the material only one will be left wanting in so many areas of one's life without lasting fulfillment , meaning , joy etc.
A leaf is nourished by everything around it, the ground, the roots the tree ,the rain, the sun etc so too a person who sees beyond the material, sees the miracles that truly surround us , empower us and nourish us, the magnificent in the mundane through a lens of wholehearted gratitude no matter one's situation,age or circumstance that life will flourish in to a new level living beauty, appreciation , joy ,meaning and fulfillment

The abomination of Hashem is the high of heart- Mishle 16:5
The intention of the words the" high of heart " means the proud of heart but why use the words " high" of heart
Let me offer this
Because when you focus on pride you are always looking down on others and seeing only yourself, your perspective with no room for others and no room for Hashem. When you look up to Hashem who is not only up but everywhere you are more humble as you take in the grandeur of the seemingly infinite growing universe that is but a dot in the endless Reality that is Hashem and in so doing you make room for others to be themselves their best selves realizing that when you are self.. less you make so much room for others that you become so much more.

The proud of heart see only themselves , their needs,desires, dreams etc with an unwillingness to entertain the views , needs etc of others.
The see only themselves so they have no place for G-d and more than that in essence they are saying :
noone can see further than I can
noone can understand better than I can
noone can anything better than I can
When you make no place for anyone but you there is no greater abomination as you deny yourself and the world of all you could be,become and contribute which with G-d has no limit
